X.T.C. is an english new wave band created
in 1976 in Swindon by ANDY PARTRIDGE (vocals/guitar, born
ANDREW JOHN PARTRIDGE on the 11/11/1953 in Malta), COLIN
MOULDING (bass, born COLIN IVOR MOULDING on the 17/08/1955
in Gorse Hill/Swindon), TERRY CHAMBERS (drums, born on
the 18/07/1955 in Swindon) and BARRY ANDREWS (keyboards,
born on the 12/09/1956 in West Norwood/London). Before XTC, their differents names were
STARPARK, HELIUM KIDZ, SKYSCRAPER and SNAKES. XTC is the
pictural contraction of "ecstasy". Next, they
settle down in the heart of the punky London. After the
departure of BARRY ANDREWS in 1979 to join ROBERT FRIPP,
and create the SHRIEKBACK band, XTC stabilized with DAVE
GREGORY (guitar, born the 21/09/1952 in Swindon, ex-ALE
HOSE and DEAN GABER). In 1982, TERRY is replaced by PETER
PHIPPES (drums). Split in 2005. XTC will have an musical
influence on bands like TRIFFIDS or THE NITS.
